Notice of Resignation of Commissioner for Standards for Guernsey – November 2025

Following recent events and public debate, I have today resigned from my role as Commissioner for Standards for Guernsey with immediate effect.

I have set out my reasons for this decision in a formal letter addressed to the President of the States’ Assembly and Constitution Committee. The letter explains the context surrounding the investigation process, the role of independent commissioners, and the wider implications for public confidence in the standards system when recommendations are not upheld.

After careful reflection, I concluded that I could not continue in the role in circumstances where the standards framework is unable to operate as intended.

You can view the full letter outlining my decision here.

I would like to thank those who have supported the work of the Office of the Commissioner for Standards and who recognise the importance of maintaining a credible, fair, and independent standards regime.
